Rolling tobacco vs. pipe tobacco — what actually changes

They look similar in the tin, but the cut, humidity and burn are worlds apart. Here’s how to tell them apart.

Rolling tobacco is cut fine and dried lower to burn evenly in a thin paper. Pipe tobacco is cut broad, kept moist, and often cased with humectants — perfect for a slow-smouldering bowl, unpleasant in a hand-rolled cigarette.

Buying the wrong tin isn’t dangerous, just disappointing. Read the label carefully or ask us — we’re always happy to point you to the right shelf.
